Welcome toWrite Your Path to Freedom: A Writer’s Guide to Financial Freedom and Location Independence.

The articles and resources on this site illuminate a revelation for once-starving writers everywhere—step by step instructions for leveraging the written word to achieve complete financial and location independence.

Most people don’t think of writing as a path to what you would call freedom…

Most people have an old-fashioned idea of the writing business and assume the choice to make a living through any art form equals a life of pinching pennies and begging for work.  In the past, financially-successful writers owed their income to a combination of extraordinary luck and exceptional talent.

And indeed, a browse of current online writing jobs leaves an ambitious wordsmith with the impression of a surplus of writers willing to work for crumbs even today.  Advertisements for web content jobs often demand bids of no more than $1-$5 per article, and to make matters worse, hoards of hungry writers gobble these jobs up as if the best thing since bottled beer.

All leading a dignified writer to believe that churning out a buck with the written word is nothing more than a waste of time and energy—an understandable conclusion if these observations really did spell out the limit of potential in the writing industry.

But a whole other dimension of paid writing exists below the surface of the cheap online market most curious writers see, a cheap market which a little further inspection reveals as the bottom rung of the ladder.  For those who possess a “way with words,” possibilities far beyond the typical writer’s greatest fantasy lie within reach.

Not only do opportunities in well-paid wordsmithing await those who take the time to learn the ins and outs, but because of the nature of the work, one can live and work anywhere they choose.  The only real necessity is an internet connection and a computer.

Find Your Definition of Freedom

Everyone cherishes a different vision of freedom.  So what’s your vision?

Stay in your hometown in America or Europe, if you choose, and work in your pajamas.  Spend years gallivanting around the world, typing away at a laptop while digging your toes into white sand beaches on various tropical islands.

Or do as I do: settle down somewhere exotic, a place where the simple act of being there doubles the value of money, and start saving for the future.

It doesn’t end there.  In addition to freeing up your location and making a nice influx of cash per hour worked, leverage can be found in written content as well.

With the right plan, you can build assets that pay more and more over time, assets that hold strong even when you step away from your computer for months at a time.  And with some project management skills, you can leverage a team of content writers to work for you and put your energy into building an online empire.

All very possible with some hard work and a will to succeed.

Countless business models based on writing exist, but here I focus on just the two of them, or two paths to freedom, you could say.  Let’s have a look:

Starting a Freelance Writing Business

Freelance writing, the first business model, presents a great way to churn out an honest living online, and regardless of the bottom dollar rates others charge, you can find plenty of higher-paying jobs out there—never enter into a business planning to compete on price (your first lesson in freelance writing).

Not only do basic web content writing jobs pay $25-$100 per page to those who learn some marketing skills, but more lucrative fields from copywriting to eBooks to speech composition can make you a relatively wealthy individual.

Best of all, offering a service means access to money almost immediately; thus, beginners hard up for cash or simply fed up with the 9 to 5 often start as freelancers.  Want to make money today and ready to work?

Go for the freelance writing model.

I discuss plenty of freelance strategies, tactics, and resources in my newsletter, for free, but to cut right to the chase, check out my review of “Ghostwriting Cash,” a complete guide to building a solid writing practice and putting money in your pocket now.  Or download this free report to find out more about opportunities in online content markets.

The Affiliate Marketing & Article Syndication Business Model

Affiliate marketing serves as another sound business model—the second path to freedom.  While many different methods of affiliate promotion can lead to success, I primarily discuss article syndication because it demands no special skills—just a propensity for the written language.

So, how does it work?

Well, an affiliate marketer typically writes content online and links to products relevant to their target market—much like you see here.  When someone reads their webpage and clicks on their affiliate link, a bit of code tracks where the purchase came from, and the marketer receives a commission on the sale.

Important Note: While I receive commissions on products referred here, I fully investigate these products and only stand by the ones I believe in; I strongly advise you to adhere to the same philosophy.

Integrity stands as a major key to success in the affiliate marketing arena.

If you know anything about internet marketing, you’re probably familiar with article marketing, but most people go about the whole thing completely wrong.  So, if you think you’ve been down this road before, you are well advised to throw everything you know out the window.

Article syndication is essentially article marketing on steroids, if I may drop a cliche on you.  A powerful marketing strategy based on high-quality content and advanced network building, syndication can provide the entire foundation for your information business.

While an affiliate business does require hard work and the patience to wait for money later on down the road, over time it evolves into a long-term asset you can really count on.  Once you get a solid system up and running, a somewhat passive income stream emerges—in other words, you get paid even as you sleep.

Not to mention that if you do it right, your income increases exponentially over time.

So, if you have the money and time, the affiliate/ article syndication model offers a great path to a long-term, steady income and takes very little work once up and running.  If the idea of a content-based asset intrigues you but you need money now, just start off with freelance writing to free up time and income, and then you can work your way towards the more long-term affiliate marketing model.

Essentially, you can use the first path as a stepping stone to the second.
